SLIMMING

Do you want to lose weight? If so, beware of harmful reducing methods. For example, do not eat five or six lemons a day for the sake of a shapely waist, because this could do irreparable damage to your liver. Follow a sensible diet, avoiding all starchy foods. If you must have meat, choose a little veal. Eat plenty of salads, seeing to it that you have a good variety at each meal. You may include steamed vegetables such as leeks, fennel, chicory, celery or celeriac, salsify and carrots. Fruit can be eaten in the mornings and evenings.

From time to time you will find it beneficial to have a ‘juice day’, drinking nothing but juice, for example carrot juice. In the autumn, you may like to have a day when you only drink freshly pressed grape juice.

However, be very careful that your slimming does not harm your health. Sitz baths (hip baths) with sea salt and herbs that stimulate circulation are most beneficial for people who are overweight. In the kitchen, too, use only sea salt (Herbamare) for seasoning as the trace elements it contains will stimulate the internal metabolism and will help to dispose of superfluous fat. If you take seaweed (kelp) at the same time, your slimming diet will be even more successful. More detailed advice on the subject of weight control is given in Part Two of this book.
